About
I’m Hayley Abraham, a Sport and Exercise Psychologist in Training currently completing my accreditation through CASES (SEPAR pathway), this means I work under supervision and with the same ethical accountability as a fully qualified practitioner. My background spans sport and exercise psychology, child development and time spent in clinical mental health psychology settings, which has shaped how seriously I take the person behind the performance.
I came into this field because I’m interested in what sport and movement mean to people, and how they shape identity, self-worth and how we relate to our own bodies.
Who is this for?
You don’t have to be an elite athlete. You don’t even have to currently “do sport”.
This might work for you if:
-
You’re in a fitness slump, and it feels bigger than just motivation
-
You’ve lost your sense of identity after injury, retirement or stepping back from sport
-
Competing or training brings up more anxiety, pressure and self-criticism than joy
-
You’re a high performer and want to perform at your best consistently, sustainably and under pressure
Whether you're struggling with confidence, navigating setbacks or feeling the weight of expectations, I provide a space that's both supportive and focused.
How I work
I take a person-centred approach, this involves us working together, and I will tailor your support to meet your needs, preferences and goals rather than using a one-size-fits-all model. My work is relational; in other words, the relationship between us is the work, though we will also use skills and techniques to support your progress too.
In practice, this looks like:
-
Starting with what’s actually going on for you
-
Following your pace, not a pre-set programme
-
Paying attention to your body and how things feel, not just what you are thinking
-
Treating performance struggles as often connected to identity, self-worth and our lives as a whole
In practice, this might feel like space and curiosity, someone who understands that your relationship with sport could be intertwined with other parts of your life, like burnout, body image, transition, fear of failure or feeling lost in something that used to feel like yours. I aim to help you build performance that is not only effective but also sustainable, so that you can show up with clarity, resilience and confidence when it matters most.
